This project is to provide, for the first time, a complete and accurate record of the active participants from Winkleigh in the First World War.  In particular, to those who gave their lives at this time, most of whom are recorded on the Winkleigh Memorial Cross.  The project is named named “Winkleigh Heroes” and has its own web site address www.WinkleighHeroes.co.uk , the pages of which can be accessed directly by the links on the left.

      Most of the research for the Winkleigh Heroes project is complete.  The web site pages are continually being expanded as additional sections are completed.

      ACE is very pleased to be contributing to this project.  One aspect of this has been the provision of accurate census transcripts for Winkleigh.  These transcripts are being added to the HOUSE_SCOUTS section of the ACE web site.  ACE has also helped with material, additional research and with the Winkleigh Heroes web site.

      The information on Winkleigh Heroes is the result of the most thorough and complete research on this subject to date, carried out by Robert Side for, and with the help of, the people of Winkleigh.
